I haven’t had time to read at all in October (though I managed to read two books in September). This is probably because I was teaching a unit to a third grade class in October. I’ve been making tons of art, mainly printmaking. If you’ve been on my tumblr in the past while you have noticed that.
I’ve also been making art photo-wise for my digital photography class. Photoshopped things, mostly. Maybe I should post a few of them on here as well?
Now the lesson/unit planning is beginning as I am about to teach a class of 7th and 8th grade boys. It’s a printmaking unit, so it should be exciting. But that means a lack of time for reading and relaxation! Tons of art-making, lesson planning, making visuals and teacher examples for teaching, among other things… life, grocery shopping, cooking.
The semester ends early this year, December 15th for me! Really, that means just the month of November to go. One more long, hard month, then two months of freedom. Next semester, I hardly expect to have time for this at all. I will try to keep updates on how student teaching is going— the teaching process, the ups and downs.
I found this via stumbleupon, but it’s a really neat site! It has tons of crafty things to do— both for organization, for fun, or just to make things look pretty!
I definitely want to do a few of these things for my art classroom (maybe some for lessons?), and some for my own house just to make things cuter. :)
Day two of vegetarianism and I’m already craving buffalo wings. This could be problematic.
Also, I managed to read 2 books in the first month of school. Not bad considering the crazy amount of work I’ve been doing.

I really really love printmaking. I need to take pictures of my more recent works. This past week was incredibly stressful (I taught on Monday!) but I got through it and I am once again on top of my mountain of homework.
I actually don’t have a ton to do this week. Here’s to hoping my digital photo prof doesn’t grade too hard. I’m learning way more about Photoshop in this class at Towson than I did in emac at mica. In that class we were supposed to learn all the adobe programs— we only did Photoshop and dreamweaver. And I’m learning TONS more in my Towson class from a GRAD STUDENT. in many ways I’m learning more from towsons art classes than I did at mica.
I’m just glad to be making art again. And I’m glad to be dating an artist. It’s so wonderful having that connection. We went to the Bma together on Friday, then we drew portraits of one another.
