Revised Student Teaching Plan
It has stayed more or less the same, with some rearranging… and then I’ve fleshed out each unit a ton more— planning vocabulary, breaking them down into the lessons, assessments, etc. I will post tons of details as I’m teaching them over the next few weeks! But here is the update!
Kindergarten- Pinch pots, talking about Native American pottery
1st- Eric Carle prepared papers, then cutting/assembling into animal faces
2nd- Coil pots based on Greek vessels, hopefully we will have time to glaze/paint them too!
3rd- Cut paper/drawing/watercolor foreground/middle ground/background landscape assembled in a 3D manner (still working on the cultural/artist exemplar)
4th- observational drawing unit (still working on the cultural/artist exemplar), going from black and white drawing (blind contour to observational contour) to colored drawings
5th- pop art printmaking— though these students can not use linoleum, it will have to be styrafoam print plates
The school I am teaching at is a cluster school for children with autism, so I will have many students in each class all along the spectrum of mild to severe autism. Some of the students will have aides, but not all of them. I will have to differentiate all of my lessons to make sure every student succeeds in learning, but I am really excited to work with these kids! It will definitely require a ton more work on my part, though!
