So I was really planning on reading more of A Clash of Kings tonight and yesterday… but yesterday I really fleshed out planning for the year, and today started finding and planning organizational things other neat ideas on here and tumblr.
Some of the ideas I will be using:
Attaching seating charts to the file folders for each class. Inside the file folder have graded papers to pass back.
I use post-its ALL THE TIME. Especially in my planner. I am actually using ^ that idea as part of another idea. A TEACHER BINDER. In one binder, I will have that to do list, in a plastic sleeve. I will also have sections for:
- calendars/schedules, especially information about art shows/contests
- meetings, professional developments & MYP information
- class grades, seating charts (just extra copies), lessons
- handouts and quizzes for units
- IEP/504 information
And then of course, my lesson planner. I got a neat one with the weekly planner, a grade book, and a behavior chart in one. The behavior “chart” really is to document poor behavior choices and their consequences. Good way to keep track of when you called home, etc.
Obviously I’m way too excited to start my first year of teaching.

I recently graduated Cum Laude from Towson University with a degree in Art Education. During the school year, I am a middle school art teacher in Anne Arundel County.
