Spent allllll afternoon/night with my other art teacher matting artwork for our county exhibit! We left at 8:00, we hang the artwork tomorrow, but man does this stuff look FANTASTIC! We set all the artwork up for how we want to display it at the show. SO PROUD of my students.

If you’re in the Maryland area go to the Annapolis mall any time between tomorrow and May 16th to check out the work!

One of the COOLEST op art designs from the 7th grade. It’s nice to have short projects after such long ones!!!

This one is better than the example I made!

6th graders are creating color wheels with watercolor paints. They look beautiful once they’ve been used. It’s the small things sometimes…

7th grade is about to start an op art unit, so I’m doing an art history piece too for movements that led to op art! Students are going to work in groups and read about specific movements, then take notes on their thinking map. Gotta support common core in art!

I’m using this app called paper on my iPad to show students how to draw certain things. Instead of drawing on the sides/back of their paper, I use the iPad!

Here I was showing 7th graders how to draw cupcakes. They’re working on oil pastel drawings of cupcakes, cakes, cookies, donuts and candies. So fun!

About

Avatar I recently graduated Cum Laude from Towson University with a degree in Art Education. During the school year, I am a middle school art teacher in Anne Arundel County. In the summer, I am both a camp counselor and instructor of art camps for youth at my local community college. This blog documents teaching experiences, ideas, and some of my personal artwork.
