Flowers from 6th grade! Oil pastel unit focusing on color.
Students first made a color wheel, value scale and intensity scale with the oil pastels to practice blending colors. We discussed how you never use the color by itself— it is always blended with something else! 
I started picking different students and asked the class what colors they would blend together to make that students’ shirt. It really got them engaged and thinking about color and it helped SO MUCH when they got to their final drawings!
