Currently reading! Not bad considering I started A Game of Thrones a little under a year ago! Read the first four (over 1000 pages each) while competing student teaching and my first year of teaching! Phew! Hope to finish this in early summer so I can plow through a long list of books. :)
It’s been so nice out lately I’ve been sitting on my porch reading. I’m about 2/3 done A Feast for Crows!
Spring break was MUCH needed! I had all of last week off, and tomorrow as well. GREAT food with the extra time to cook (and fresh fruits, veggies and herbs with warmer weather!) pictured: falafel (from scratch!), home-cooked breakfasts, and guacamole from scratch! Not pictured- tilapia marinated in Dijon mustard, lemon/lime juice and cilantro. :)
I also made a fort from a sheet and have read incredible amounts of Feast for Crows under said fort. :)
Currently reading. It took me 3 months to read the first two, which isn’t terrible considering how large these books are!
Q:goodreads(.)com is quite nice to keep track of your reading. I've had a Kindle for almost two years now. I love it for reading academic papers but haven't read a 'fun' book on it yet. I'm not sure if I'll like it. Do you still feel attached to holding a physical book? I probably should get a few Kindle books for when I'm traveling, it would be much easier.
I’ve used goodreads some, more to suggest new books to read than keeping track of ones I have already read. I still like holding actual books, but mostly I just like using the kindle! It’s so much lighter and easier to carry around (put in my purse!) than an actual book. I bring it with me everywhere and find myself reading whenever I have even a few minutes to myself. The only reason I really still read actual books is because I worked at a Borders and have literally over 100 I have yet to read. I probably won’t buy any more physical books.
Zac and I both have kindles now! We’re bookworms. :)
Sunday morning breakfast with a side of kindle.

I think I want to post a list here of the books I have read in the past few years. About 2 years ago I started writing down the books I have read, so I could remember what I read when, and keep track of how many books I read in a year! (This is how I know that I average 30 books in a year. Though I’m sure 2012 will be significantly less thanks to student teaching, graduating college, moving, and getting a teaching job! It will still be at least 10 books though— which is more than most people!)
This list is packed away somewhere in a box… so when I unpack it, I’ll post the list here!
PS- I am IN LOVE with my kindle. So easy and portable. Especially now that I’m reading the Game of Thrones series! Those books are HUGE! I still have 100 (not exaggerating, I counted) physical books I have yet to read though, so I’ll have those for the next few years as well.
She got up on the tv tray and sat on my kindle. Guess she wanted me to pay attention to her instead of reading!
Got this in the mail today. ;) now my bookshelf won’t overflow anymore!!
First purchases- game of thrones series and a Ray Bradbury. His are on sale currently because he just passed. RIP to one of my favorite authors! (Fahrenheit 451 and Something Wicked this Way Comes will forever be in my top 10.)
In other news- I am a camp counselor and an instructor at art camps at AACC this summer. I start next week!
I’ve had two GREAT HR interviews so far with my top two picks- Baltimore county and Anne Arundel county! I should be getting calls from principals for interviews any day now! Fingers crossed, but I feel extremely confident.
